Basic physics supports solar activity as cause of global warming

The causes of Climate Change became a real debate today rather than just a slinging match between the vested interests in the 'green' and oil lobbies.

Piers Corbyn, a leading British weather expert, and brother of Jeremy Corbyn the left wing Labour MP, is no paid for oil lobbyist.

However, he has a excellent letter in today's Guardian which in a few short sentences throws a very large spanner in the works. His argument is simple and obvious; global warming is caused by the sun.

As the inventor of an extremely successful weather forecasting method based on his knowledge of the sun Piers Corybyn has the right to be taken seriously.

At the very least environmentalists and all those concerned with climate change should consider what he has to say.

At the moment the environmental movement is based on a huge error in thinking - the belief that global warming can be stoped simply by some environmental belt tightening, some green taxes, and planting more trees.

The truth is that global warming and it's effects will be far worse than we are being told. If we accept the truth, and start to prepare now for the inevitable, we can maybe save a lot of lives.

If you have not already, check out Global Dimming - then you will start to realise that the notion that humanity can stop Global Warming is simply self delusion.

The sooner we start to realise the truth the sooner we can start to prepare to survive what is going to happen - rather than waste our time in the futile attempt to stop the universe.

Just in case you can't be bothered to click to the Guardian this is the text of the Corybyn letter in full:

Basic physics supports solar activity as cause of global warming

Science, not argument about conspiracy, must be central to the debate about climate change (Letters, November 13), nevertheless Al Gore's stake in green business (Generation Investment Management) and David Miliband's closeness to the nuclear industry merit attention. Dr Wolff's claim that the climate-sceptical position "is in contradiction to everything we expect from basic physics" is bizarre, since physics is the basis of Weather Action's world-leading solar weather technique of long-range forecasting. The SWT relies on predictable effects of solar particles, not on CO2 or meteorology models - and I can assure your correspondent Richard Nunn that the SWT will be published when matters of intellectual property are sorted out.

Dr Wolff admits "CO2 has indeed increased in response to temperature change in the past ..." This is a general pattern in slow changes over the last 250,000 years (Caillon et al, Science, March 2003). Furthermore proxy measurements covering thousands of years (eg Neff et al, Nature 2001) show that, in timescales of 22 years, the magnetic sun-spot cycle and world temperatures move together, whereas CO2, while following temperature in slow general terms, also moves the other way for quite long periods. This contradicts the theory that CO2 drives temperature and climate.

Current CO2 levels, or rate of CO2 rise, are not unprecedented. CO2 levels have been three times current levels (Bob Carter, Marine Geophysical Lab, Queensland). CO2 rapid rise "spikes" doubtless happened before, given the power of nature compared with man's puny activity (not even 1% of total greenhouse effect), but ice-core data smoothes them out.

The global warmers' claim that current extra CO2 causes warming which gets dangerously magnified through the greenhouse effect of extra water vapour in the atmosphere, consequent to the temperature rise, also fails. The sea absorbs extra CO2. Furthermore, increased transpiration-cooling by enhanced growth of plants, which is caused by extra CO2, cancels out the extra greenhouse warming of that same CO2. Increased greenhouse heating due to doubling CO2 is 3.7 watts per sq metre. This is negated by about the same amount of enhanced transpiration-cooling of plants, all of which grow faster in extra CO2. Therefore there is no CO2 driven net heat flow and surface temperature rise. Temperature and climate change in our epoch is therefore driven by other factors, especially solar particle and magnetic effects.

So can action against climate change make a difference? Even if temperature trends can be changed - and controlling the sun is a tall order even for a Bush/ Blair legacy - there is no evidence of connected change in weather extremes or useful outcomes. Let's save the planet from real chemical pollutants, but CO2 is not one of them. Wouldn't it be better to work to predict climate than make vain attempts to change it?

Update: The reactionary conservative climate change hysteria site 'Indymedia' is accusing 'schmoo' and Piers Corbyn of 'heresy' as in the Spanish Inquisition. This is actually a compliment as it comes from exactly the same type of people who always shout 'heresy' when someone says the Earth is not flat! Hopefully they will be extinct soon when humanity realises the truth - climate change is irreversible, it is not caused by humanity, and what we should be doing is planing for survival not falling for a huge con trick by the corporations who want a carbon economy. Long live Galileo. The left is dead - long live the left.

euro lotto roll over misery ends for millions

A 'Lottery Flu' pandemic which has swept Europe in recent weeks is over say psychologists.

Finally the 'Euro Lotto' roll over madness is over and millions of people can get back to admitting reality - they are all losers.

ANTIDOTE DISCOVERED - BURN MONEY

What we need are more people like the KLF - who a few years ago burnt a million pounds in £50 notes to prove money is not everything

They made the resulting ashes into a brick and tried to sell it as 'art' - the top price they were offered was £800.

ROLL OVER

If only it were true that 'Money Can't Buy you Love'. Then perhaps the 'Euro Lottery' would roll over - and die.

nationwide open

It is emerging today that Nationwide allowed a laptop computer with the personal details of millions of it's customers to be stolen - three months ago.

This follows the news that banks are routinely leaving their customers account details on the street, nicely wrapped up in black plastic bags, for identity theft 'executives' to remove for 'processing'.

Nationwides chief executive was on the BBC's 'Today' program this morning - failing miserably to argue that over 4 million people's details are not of any interest to ID thieves.

DATA THEFT SURGE

In the USA there have been a large number of similar 'data theft' robberies. Strangely there have been no increase in fraudulent thefts using the stolen ID information despite the massive security breaches. Some people are now suggesting that the culprits are in fact the security services, who are 'harvesting' the information to fill up their know it all 'Ask Big Brother' data base search engines ('Boogles').

Perhaps Nationwide is correct after all; their customers have absolutely nothing to fear - except perhaps being connected to a 'suspicious' purchase of a 'liquid' at 'Boots' the Chemist.

babies for justice - groin revenge.

The irrepressible single parent mother, and founder of 'Babies for Justice' Birgit Cunningham, admitted in court today that she was "Guilty as hell" of kneeing Harry Nuttall, the father of her child, in the groin.

Harry Nuttall pays just £5 a week child maintenance!

Nuttall complained to the court that he suffered "swollen testicles", but he could have suffered a lot worse at the hands of his furious ex 'lover'. In March this year, Birgit Cunningham led a 'Babies For Justice' demo outside Downing Street with a placard reading 'Behead Dead Beat Dads'.

The 'riches to rags' ex 'it' girl who once dated Kevin Costner, started with a fortune but ended up on Housing Benefit after getting pregnant by, and being abandoned by, Harry Nuttall - whose father is billionaire Sir Nicholas Nuttall.

I said at the time that Cunningham's court case with Harry Nuttall could get nasty. I was proved to be right when Birgit kneed him in the groin - in the court.

However, just as I do not agree with executing Saddam Hussain, I think 'Beheading Dead Beat Dads' is too fundamentalist, although I love the slogan.

Nevertheless the punishment should fit the crime. Being kneed in the groin for Harry Nuttall seems only fair - after all he does seem to be a mean minded prick.

However the court thought differently and gave Birgit a 12 month conditional sentence. The court also ordered her to pay £60 - towards court costs not the 'Children in Need' appeal.

It seems that nowadays the norm in sexual relationships is 'serial monogonamy'. Even if they can stay together more than a few hours, most couples split up after a few years.

For the sake of the children - or the lawyers?

We need to rethink everything about the way the law treats the resulting mess when children are involved - usually it seems that the only people who benefit are the lawyers.

Babies for Justice.
Fathers For Justice.
Real Fathers for Justice.

Revolution in the Air: Blair's Speech Bombs despite brave performance by the Queen

Judging by the comments about the 'Queens Speech' on the BBC's 'Have Your Say' forum, the 'British Revolution' is just around the corner - and it will be bloody.

ARE YOU DOING DIGITAL?

Sadly, I could find only one comment about the Queen's Speech that was in any way positive - and that was from one of the few people in the country who wants to buy an ID Card costing more than the price of the Freeview Box.

Will the Queen be forced to have an ID card? There was nothing in her speech about that.

As you might expect most comments were unoriginal and anti Blair. However as a monarchist I was glad to see (and surprised) how many people were sympathetic towards the Queen for having to read the speech. More than one person wished that she would dissolve Parliament. However I could not support such a mischievous and anti democratic plot. We are not Nepal, and I'm not that monarchist.

Presumably the people making these silly comments are all Tories wanting an early election. If their comments about the Queen's Speech on the BBC website are anything to go by it seems the Tories would win with a landslide - in their dreams. In the hopefully unlikely event of a Tory take over, it will be David Camercon's turn to be slagged off on 'Have Your Say'; his 'honeymoon' would be the shortest in history.

I did not see Blair and Camercon's performance today but apparently Blair won hands down (as usual).

David Cameron (Camercon) is like the almost useless windmill he has on his roof - he just goes round and round, but generates no real power.

The plan for the next year looks good; action on 'Climate Change, Law and Order, Pension Reform. Thease are all areas where real people (rather than professional hand wringers), want action - real action.

DANGER FOR LABOUR

The most controversial issue is bound to be ID Cards and their expence. This could be Labour's 'Poll Tax Riot' if it is not handled a lot better than it has so far. A massive ground swell of opposition is developing.

For a start Gordon Brown should announce that ID cards will be free - with Nector points if possible. The alternative could be exactly the opposite of 'law and order'.

There is the smell of 'revolution' in the air - but it is the stench of death, destruction and mob rule, not liberation.

the charge of the congestion charge: ken livingston orders new attack on 4x4 tanks

Above: Ken Livingston the Mayor of london is to extend the Congestion Charge area to include the main areas for 'tanks' otherwise known as 'Chelsea Tractors' - Kensington and Chelsea. He has also has confirmed an increased £25 a day C-Charge on the obese sized vehicles from 2008 - or hopefully earlier he said.

Above: Nearly 20,000 of the gas-guzzler, polluting child killer 'tanks' have invaded London in recent years - setting up road blocks where ever they go.

Above: Most people think the congestion charge exists to stop traffic congestion - but the real reason is to stop lung congestion caused by the air pollution from cars.

Ken Livingston believes the congestion charge will be the main issue in the next mayoral election in May 2008 and a 'referendum' on his policy. This will be a referendum he will win with a landslide. The congestion charge has been a huge success - except for the despicable car and oil company lobby.

aquittal set back for bnp

Above: An example of British Nationalism.

Although many good people believe exactly the opposite, the acquittal of the racist leader of the 'British National Party' (BNP) for inciting racial hatred is good news.

In fact the goons in the BNP must have been preying to what ever dark demons they worship for a 'guilty' verdict. This would would have seen support for their brand of being very unpleasant people sky rocket.

What a set back for the BNP. First the BBC times their secretly filmed expose of how very ignorant and racist the BNP really are at exactly the right time; election time. This ruins the BNP's election chances by destroying their fake 'respectable' image, frightening off all the fascist old ladies who might have voted for them.

Then, the BNP expected a big boost by having their leader thrown in jail for a couple of months for saying what a lot of people think (even though it is totally untrue). But the Yorkshire jury pulls the carpet from under their feet, and finds him 'Not Guilty'. Brilliant! This was the last thing they wanted!

What is not so brilliant is Gordon Brown saying he wants to change the laws on Freedom of Speech to make sure that next time - the BNP get their martyr and the maximum support.

LEFT WING NAZIES

There are some on the left who sound very like the despotic Nazies they say they are against. They chant 'No Platform For Nazies' like zombies doing some kind of religious mantra - forgetting that the same rules would be applied to them.

The reason the BNP have done well in a few parts of the country is not that they have had the 'oxygen of publicity' - it is because corrupt local Labour Party officials in particular, and the 'decent' left in general have abandoned white working class people for trendy, 'pie in the sky' ideological babble.

Every other minority group has support groups and social workers running around for them, but especially in certain areas of the country, white working class people feel isolated and abandoned. True or not, they think they have no one supporting their interests at all. Not surprisingly they feel threatened.

Into this vacuum come racists and authoritarians like the BNP - and George Galloway's so called 'Respect' party offering to take up their cause. 'Respect' is almost as bad as the BNP - in the most disgusting and cynical way they have joined forces with right wing Islamic groups of the type that advocate throwing acid in the faces of women who do not wear the veil.

BNP RECRUITERS EXPOSED

Who are the biggest recruiters for the BNP? It is in fact the likes of 'Respect', 'Channel Four News', the 'Stop the War Coalition', so called 'anarchists' (who smash windows), 'Independent' readers, and druggie 'Big Issue' seller types in the town center. These are the main recruiters for the BNP amongst white working class voters.

Just imagine the fuss if it was suggested that any of the above were denied a platform!

schmoo on the run

Above: schmoo on the run (self portrait using my mobile) - somewhere in london last night.

US elections: american voters regain world respect

Above: Unfairly, Bush made people think everything about America "sucked" - when in fact it is only about 50%. The recent elections in the US may not have got rid of Bush, but they have nailed the Neo Cons, and proved that not all Americans think Afghanistan is somewhere in Africa.

Ironically the election results will make it easier for Bush to block the racist anti immigration measures which he fought against. He was over ruled by his right wing Nazi supporters - but now they will not be able to stop the immigration reforms.

Similar to the immigration policy in Britain, the American immigration reforms will ensure sensible controls, but recognise that far from taking away jobs, immigration creates more jobs - and benefits everyone.

cannabis party rehashed

Above: Cannabis 'rockie' - another sweet cannabis campaigning tool.

The 'Legalise Cannabis Alliance' (LCA), a legally constituted political party which has stood candidates in Parliamentary elections against prohibitionists in the Labour, Tory, Liberal and even the Green Party, has decided on a major change of strategy.

An 'emergency' meeting this weekend held in Norwich has decided to give up fighting elections against the major political parties. They plan instead to concentrate on lobbying for legalising cannabis using other methods.

So far it is not clear what these new methods are going to be. Personally I would suggest giving up smoking so much cannabis - if cannabis campaigners smoked less cannabis it would have been legalised years ago!

For years the Legalise Cannabis Alliance (LCA) put pressure on cannabis prohibitionists in the main political parties by offering to take valuable votes away unless they changed their policies. On the other hand, any candidate from any party who publicly supported legalising cannabis was allowed to stand unopposed.

The tactic worked especially well on the Green Party, many of whose supporters are chronic cannabis users (strangely for an 'environmental' party many of them also smoke tobacco). For years the hypocritical Greens refused to support full legalisation, which is the only safe and sensible policy for cannabis, and like the hapless Liberal Party would only dare to go as far as decriminalisation.

But after the Cannabis Alliance won hundreds of votes in several elections against Green candidates, the Green Party changed their policy.

Realising that there were votes in liberalising the cannabis prohibition laws, all the parties have subsequently adjusted their tune on cannabis. The Labour Party (who have done more for cannabis reform than any other party), finally brought in the 'Class C for Cannabis' policy, which was effectively decriminalisation for personal use.

Until then up to 100,000 people a year had been prosecuted and given criminal records simply for being in possession of cannabis - at a cost to the tax payer of nearly £1 BILLION a year.

However, since then things seem to have started to go backwards. With over 3000 people now facing criminal prosecution for producing cannabis in DIY 'grow rooms', and the crazy 'cannabis causes schizophrenia' scare, the battle to end the real madness that is cannabis prohibition is still very much on.

Meanwhile the government seems to be stalling on it's valuable medical cannabis achievements, and has failed to give a license to GW Pharmaceuticals to allow MS, cancer and aids patients to benefit from it's use.

FACT: the really dangerous thing about cannabis - is cannabis prohibition.

Many politicians from all the main parties know this is true - but until they have the guts to tell the truth the general public, especially young people, will continue to be put in danger by the ignorance driven policies on cannabis.

What everyone needs (including cannabis users) is some cannabis education.

* I smoked cannabis for many years, but I have given up and have never felt better. However I still believe cannabis should be fully legalised now (and sold in special licensed 'cannabis clubs') - to protect the health of the nation, especially young people.

Earlier this year the annual 'Hemp Expo', organised by the magazine 'Weed world', was mysteriously cancelled just days before it was due to start after the directors of the venue suddenly decided to pull the plug. A new venue has now been found and the UK Hemp Expo is going ahead at the Telford International Centre, May 5th, 6th and 7th, 2007.

remembrance day

Above and below: The real 'Anti War Coalition' marched through London today - members of the British Army Navy and Air Force as part of the Remembrance Day ceremony.

I am remembering all the idealists, poets, artists, writers, actors, journalists, film directors, communists, anarchists, musicians, comedians, good cooks and beautiful fun loving people, who have faught and died for freedom, against facism, and to establish peace.

Today is a day to remember those who have died fighting dictatorships and tyranny, especially in the First and Second World Wars, in the Spanish Civil War, and in the on going wars for freedom in Iraq and Afganistan and Palestine.

CHANNEL 4 SHAME

Jon Snow of 'Channel Four News' refuses to honor the war hero dead for some dubious 'politically correct' reason. It is not often he is wrong - but in this case he should be ashamed. Thease people died so he could be a trendy liberal leftie 'worthy journalist'. Like so may who should know better, Jon Snow has forgotten the phrase "Least We Forget".

'G-Wiz' direct action against climate change: buy a car

Above: The transport revolution starts here: the G-Wiz electric car - no parking tickets, no congestion charge, exempt from road tax, and no expensive fuel. Electricity charging costs are less than 1p a mile (which has been worked out to be about the same as 600 miles a gallon).

Above: The G-Wiz' electric car. Just £6,999, from the sole distributors goingreen.co.uk. London users will be able to save more than that (estimated £8000) in parking fees and congestion charges in one year. Finance deals are available costing from just £143 per month. With the London congestion charge area to be expanded in Febuary 07, the 'G-Wiz' is set to really live up to it's name.

Above: The G-Wiz will save between one and three tonnes of CO2 per year. Another advantage of the G-Wiz is it does not cause Asthma in children or old people - and no 'Oyster Card' required.

Ok there are disadvantages: the G-Wiz is really only good for urban travel as the maximum speed is 40 miles an hour, so you can't drive it on motorways. Ideal for going to the shops, taking the kids to school (carries 4). Users say it is not made as well as a Rolls Royce - a bit like the early Mini's (no rain forest wood interiors guaranteed.

In London Goingreen.co.uk are ready to bring a G-Wiz to where ever you live for a free 'no strings-no co2' test drive. Check their website or phone 020 8574 3232.

survellience society: cctv 'security' bonanza for london bus companies who sell 'video nasties'

Above: CCTV on a London Bus. You watching them, watching you, watch them. Don't worry - if you get stabbed, we will be able to sell the footage.

According to 'Transport for London' there are 55-60,000 thousand CCTV cameras on London buses and each bus has 6 - 12 cameras. At least one camera points out into the street. The cameras take high resolution digital 'JPEG' images every few seconds which are stored on a computer hard drive, rumored to be under the drivers seat.

PROFITING FROM CRIME

This new 'film industry' is expanding into Britain's version of 'Bollywood'; a 'Bendy-bus-wood' high tech film industry dealing with massive amounts of digital photographic data - possibly more than on 'youtube'.

The bus companies now employ not only bus drivers - but film editors and computer geeks in ever expanding film departments.

The 'stars' of this new 'video-nasty' industry are unknowns with walk on parts; criminals and their passenger victims, who typically perform as stabbing victims and having their pockets picked.

Sometimes the CCTV films get massive audiences - for example a 'block-buster' such as a 'live' terrorist appearance may get broadcast on every TV channel (and radio station if it was possible), 24 hours a day for a year, followed by 'flash back' repeats for the rest of time.

PAY TO VIEW

The main paying audience however are the police who are forced to 'pay-to-view' by the transport companies every time there in an 'incident' - ie several times a day.

Personally I do not see anything wrong with CCTV on buses. Society needs, and deserves protection. From personal experience on the 29 Bendy-Bus in London, the chances of being involved in some kind of theft 'incident' leap 200% the moment you get aboard - and that's with 12 CCTV cameras taking evidence every few seconds.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY

However I suspect the public is being robbed twice - first by the robbers, and then by the bus companies.

How much exactly are the transport companies charging the police for the CCTV footage? I suspect the bus companies may be profiting more from the crimes than the thieves! This could be highway robbery on a massive scale - probably for millions.

Everyone certainly seems very cagey about how much the CCTV footage costs.

'Transport for London' deny a 'CCTV Industry' is developing. Yet just the collection of the data from the 55-60,000 cameras which they admit to is an industry - that's bigger than Jessups. Transport for London say they are currently negotiating a pricing structure with the bus companies. Jessups do a photo CD for £1.99. I just can't believe the bus companies are not charging more than than - a lot more.

INTERROGATING SCOTLAND YARD

A few days ago I decided to get on the phone and try to find out how much the police had to pay for the footage. No one wanted to tell me.

Being British, I rang Scotland Yard. They said CCTV on buses was a matter for the London Transport Police. This seemed reasonable - until I rang the London Transport Police, and they said 'Can you tell the Metropolitian Police that we are not responsible for policing the buses - they are." I rang Transport for London, they said "Ring 'Arriva'" (the bus company with more TV cameras than the BBC). I rang 'Arriva', they said "Ring 'Transport for London'" ....

So, to cut short a long story, (which includes Scotland Yard refusing to break under interrogation), I have taken advantage of the excellent scheme operated by the Metropolitian Police and applied for the information under the 'Freedom of Information Act 2000'.

I have asked Scotland Yard three simple questions: 1. How much does the Metropolitan Police have to pay for CCTV images taken on buses in London due to a reported incident or an investigation? 2. Is there a price for each image? 3. Is there a price for a search request? Watch this space - according to the law there should be a reply within 20 days.

NOT PARANOID

Don't get me wrong:
Although 'left wing' (and left handed), I am not a paranoid, conspiracy pedaling, hang wringing, 'Independent' reading, fashion victim 'anarchist' type, campaigning to abandon Iraq (and London) to religious fundamentalism, mob rule, and dictatorship, while whining about the 'erosion of human rights'.

I have no problem with CCTV on the buses or the underground - in fact I want to buy a CCTV camera to try to stop people stealing my bike. Then, if it happens again (as it probably will, despite the obvious camera) - maybe I can sell the footage to the police.

The rule of law is required if we are to live in a free society - free of bullies, free of violence, free of intimidation, muggers, and bike stealer's, not to mention criminal corporations and people selling 'Lordships'.

However, instead of being all seeing and all knowing, it appears 'Big Brother' is actually asleep most of the time - probably on a couch in the 'Home Office' with the telly left on.

When the gangs on the estates are more organised than the police, CCTV helps sustain the rule of law.

I just wish I had a CCTV camera trained on my bike when it got stolen from outside the schmoo 'safe house' recently. Where was 'Big Brother' then?

climate change: robin hood

robin hood by Irving Fox

Robin is a merry child, and at the age of nine
He loves to hide in the Sheriff's wood
And wonders why, althought he's good
He must needs be clandestine.

Robin is yet very young
With laughing eyes and rhyming tongue:
He walks in the woods in the summertime
And knows that if he's found in there,
Caught and taken unaware,
He'll be hanged at dawn in the market square
To discourage the public from crime.

A handsome and a gentle youth,
In love with the open air,
In Sherwood Forest he spends his days,
Learns from the creatures the wild wood's ways,
Climbs like a squirrel and runs like a hare,
Hand in hand with Marion, his damsel fair.

The Sheriff kills with never a thought:
What to Robin is murder, to the Sheriff is sport:
His heart is a void that can only be filled
With the corpses of creatures
His armour has killed ...
Greedy for gold, his word is Law,
His hand is iron, his face is stone
Surrounded by servants but always alone,
His pleasure is torture, his peace is war.

Camouflaged in the green
Of their cloaks and hoods,
Men live unseen in the Sheriff's woods:
Hid from all eyes, they live under the skies -
Little John, Friar Tuck,
Sweet maid Marion are there,
With brave Robin Hood and Alan a'Dair
They live 'neath the trees with never a care,
Dream of freeing the forest for all men to share.

Gold dust gleams in the slow sunbeams
That stipple the dappled glade;
Flowers and ferns and rippling streams
Paint patterns of light and shade.

Calm and grave, the ancient trees
Whisper and sway in the gentle breeze -
Their graceful, tender, stately dance
Brings Robin in wonder to his knees,
Transfixed and in a trance.

He loves his damsel, he loves the deer,
He loves the greenwood tree:
He sees the forest crowned with light
And he knows what it means to be free.
"No Sheriff, no man-at-arms," he vows,
"Shall take my love from me."

And the rest, as they say, is history.
The forest is a car-park now,
The motorway runs through,
Nottingham City tip, hard by,
Offers its refuse to the sky.
The Sheriff's men are everywhere
All in their coats of blue,
Protecting the private property
Of all but me and you.

But along the branching axons
Of the cortical canopy
That recall the tangled branches
Of the long-dead greenwood tree,
Swift as thought, as arrows,
Fly shafts of electrotonicity ...

Retinal rhythms of light and shade
Induce patterns of perceptivity
And, hid from the eyes of the Sheriff's spies,
Wherever the hearts of men are free
And defy the Sheriff right merrily
There creation is crowned in full panoply.

In the neural network of the brain
There the forest still remains:
The Dove of Peace and Discovery's Hind
Elude the hunt and refuge find;

The Sheriff there has no domain:
To impose his law he strives in vain
And I'll tell you this for the hope it gives -

Robin Hood lives!

'guy fawkes day', uk - 'saddam hussain day' iraq

"Hanging is too good for him - we should burn him" says one Iraqi quoted on the BBC. Today it is 'Guy Fawkes Day' in Britain - and 'Saddam Hussain Day' in Iraq.

Personally I am against the death penalty, even for President Bush who certainly has innocent blood on his hands, both Arab and American, (or Ted Haggard who might deserve it for 'Hypocrisy One'). Nevertheless, the spontaneous celebrations in Baghdad sparked by the announcement of the execution by hanging judgement against Saddam are understandable. He said he would prefer to be shot than be hung - so they decided to hang him.

Saddam Hussain gave up the right to govern his country when he started to murder and torture his own people. He turned it into a national industry. His girlfriend of 20 years left him when she discovered he was watching videos of his political enemy's being tortured.

How could the despicable George Galloway shake Saddam Hussain's hand? The other politicians to do this were Donald Rumsfeld - and Maggie Thatcher.

climate change demo: global warming, global dimming

Above: The 'Climate Change March' going through Piccadilly Circus, Central London on it's way to a rally in Trafalgar Square. I became an environmentalist as a child when one day I was shocked to discover that the people leaving litter in the countryside where I lived were not naughty children as I had assumed - but nasty smelly adults.

Above: It was a beautiful day for a Climate Change Walk.

Above: Esso is as bad as Al Quaida (if not worse).

Above: You won't understand the truth about Climate Change and Global Warming until you understand Global Dimming - check it out. Basically things are much worse than you think.

Above: Actually I do not agree with this; cars are great - it is the unnecessary polluting engines that I don't like, and the problem with them is not sucking - it is belching. We don't need a 'Congestion Charge' against petrol and diesel fueled cars in our cities - we need an exclusion zone.

Above: Controversial statement: The main cause of global warming is increased solar activity. Aeroplanes are actually reducing the effects of global warming by leaving trails which help reflect the heat back into space.

Above: A packed Trafalgar Square - never seen the place so full.

Above: Frankly there is not much hope that humanity will be able to stop what is happening - the best we can do is prepare to attempt to survive the effects - like moving to higher ground, getting a boat, (or maybe a space rocket).

Above: Burning all the fossil fuels is just plain stupid - it is like using £20 notes to light a cooker. Even if it has little or no effect on the climate, it is obviously causing huge damage to human heath, to the natural environment, and to other life forms through the effects of pollution.

Above: I used to campaign against nuclear power, but now I think it is the best option. I also think Iran and other nations have the same right to use the technology as anyone else. They should be helped to achieve it in the safest way possible.

Above: Ok, I admit it, I am a fundamentalist: Just ban anything that burns petrol or diesel from our towns and cities - children and old people's lives are at stake.

iraq inquiry debate: tony benn talks to schmoo

Above: Flag of peace outside Parliament.

Above: Tony Benn outside Parliament.

Above: Parliament outside Flag of Peace.

Above: Parliament outside Tony Benn. Tony Benn told the assembled crowd that the debate on iraq was far more interesting outside parliament. He said the Iraq war was not a 'War against Terror'; "It is a war against Iraq, a war against Afganistan and a threat against Iran."

Above: Tony Benn smokes out 'schmoo on the run' with his peace pipe.

schmoo says: I have always liked Tony Benn a lot, while disagreeing with him often. In fact I agree with his son Hilary a lot more (but maybe like him a little less). As the government's 'International Development Secretary', Hilary Benn speaks eloquently in support of freedom and democracy in Iraq which few people have the guts to do - especially in the 'Anti War Coalition' supported by his dad.

I asked Tony Benn if he had arguements with his son. He laughed and said "Oh well - he is a member of a right wing government - but then so was I."

Hilary Benn is standing in the coming Labour Party election for 'Deputy Prime Minister'. I hope he wins and then becomes Prime Minister.

african emergency declared - madonna to adopt again

Africa was in a state of emergency last night after Madonna, the 'Queen of Pop', told the BBC news night program that "My husband and I" might adopt just more child from the 'dark' continent.

It had been hoped that Madonna would use her £300 million+ fortune and worldwide contacts to adopt the 20 million African children who face death in the next 12 months. But the American pop singer has refused.

Shares in the Priory drug addiction clinic went up on the news. This was after the odds of Madonna's children ending up as alcoholic junkies hit an all time high.

Britain's teenagers are the most druggie, spoilt brats in Europe according to a new report.

surveillance society: how to spot an informer

Above: They don't look like informers - which means they look like informers.

Above: Almost every political group in Britain is infiltrated by paid informers who report back after meetings. Usually these are weak people who have got in to trouble at some time in the past and were 'recruited'. They usually get paid something on top of their dole - it helps pay for their drugs.

Often they actually serve a useful purpose - letting the authorities know that absolutely nothing of any consequence is happening.

As they say on 'Crime Watch' - don't have nightmares.

john kerry takes over from bin laden in helping bush win election

Above: Seems John Kerry is not content with losing just one election for the Democrats. A bit like Bin Laden, John 'Bin-loser' Kerry appears from nowhere and releases a video just at the right time to help Bush and the Neo Cons Nazies stay in power.

John Kerry is a bit like 'Old Labour' - the Tories best friend.

Everytime people like him (or Claire Short) open their mouths - the voters decide to vote for the War Against Terror.

John Kerry can't even tell a joke. Maybe that is why we have a joker as US President - as least Bush makes people laugh.

Still John Kerry does share one talent with Bush - he also makes people want to vote Republican.
